Project Overview
The aim of the project is to provide maintenance and functional development for the distributed system «Backup and Archive Manager» (BAM), a licensed product that is built on client-server architecture and performs storage management functions in a multi-platform networking environment. The product is widely used throughout the world.
Project Execution
Launched in 1995, the project started with BAM testing in IBM AIX environment performed by IBA. Currently, 20 dedicated IBA experts are involved in the project. The IBA responsibilities include:
- Assistance in the initial processing of Customer Problem Report to identify a software program that causes the problem
- Analysis of Customer Problem Report relating to BAM, fixing problems in software programs, and testing the programs
- Development of test scenario, programming of scripts to automate the testing process, and implementation of functional, system and installation testing
- Design and development of new functions and features in line with the project plan.
IBA implements the project using IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, Linux, Novell Netware, and Windows.
Project Results
IBA has been providing high quality support for the BAM system across the world. Analyzing problems, making appropriate changes in program code, as well as testing thoroughly the new versions, IBA provided for higher quality and reliability of the system. For instance, in 2004 IBA analyzed and processed more than 1,000 Customer Problem Reports and fixed problems in BAM functionality and efficiency. IBA developed more than 100 script programs and performed testing of new system versions on Windows, NetWare, Linux, AIX, and HP-UX computer platforms. The system functionality was expanded to meet user needs and expectations in the best way.
